Product Review: IUREK Women's Heated Jacket
Updated: Jan 25
Recently, I was approached by the brand IUREK who sells heated clothing and jackets to people who work and recreate outdoors. They asked if I would be willing to try out one of their products and share my thoughts on my social media accounts. I happily agreed and several days later the package arrived at my house! I immediately planned a hike so that I could give it a try.
There is a sizing chart on the website and I recommend that you use it to find your size. I am normally one size bigger than the one I received, so I'm glad I thought to check the chart. Overall I thought that the jacket fit well, although it felt a little bulky when I first put it on. That may just be because the material was stiff - it felt thick and waterproof. With a bit of wear I think this jacket would feel perfect. It also felt large enough on the inside that I could wear several layers under it comfortably.
There is a power bank that gets plugged into the jacket which is what powers the heating elements. This power bank is probably about the size of a mobile phone, maybe a little bit thicker, and the interior pocket for it is located at the hip on the left side of the jacket.
This location is a tiny bit awkward and it makes the jacket stick out a little bit in that spot. I'm not sure if there is a different location that makes more sense though. I think this part of the fit might be a little bit different for each person depending on body type. For normal use of this jacket, the power bank isn't that big of a deal, but it did affect my backpack which has a waist buckle. I had to loosen the buckle a little bit in order for it to fit over the power bank. It's not a big deal, but something to keep in mind.
The jacket I received was dark gray and black, which works for me because those are some of my favorite colors. On the website, there are some items that have red accents on them. Otherwise, the coloring is pretty simple and straightforward. There are zippers on the outside pockets which is always helpful when hiking so you don't drop anything out, and if it's raining then no water will get in. There is a hood which is nice and large and stays up. There is the option to cinch it down around your face if needed. The hood is also detachable by zipper in case you don't want it on the jacket.
The real magic comes with the functionality of the jacket. In the original packaging with the jacket, there were several accessories included. There is a power bank, a charging cord, and several different types of plugs to choose from.
After you charge up the power bank you then plug it into the coat. There is a zipper pocket on the inside left side hip where the cord attached to the heating elements exists. The power bank fits snugly right in this pocket.
There is an on-button which you turn on by doing a long press for 3 seconds. A small round screen will show you a number which indicates the percent of battery that is left. Doing a short press of the power button will allow you to select different heating levels. The blue color will get you to about 100 degrees, the white button will get you to about 115 degrees and the red button will get you to 130 degrees. Another 3-second long press will turn off the power bank and the jacket will cool down.
I tested this product both at home and then again in the woods on a short hike. I was out for about 2 hours and the battery ended up at 79%. I had it on the hottest heat setting. I would estimate that the battery would be used at a rate of 10% per hour, so you might get 10 hours out of it on the hottest setting - however, I did not actually test this.
It got very warm, and it was a comfortable warm. I never once felt like it was burning me. I really loved this aspect of the jacket. One important thing to note is that it's helpful to zip up the jacket the whole way to keep the heat in. I tend to leave my zipper halfway down so at first a lot of the heat was escaping. Once I zipped up the jacket it stayed much warmer.
Ultimately, I would recommend this product to my hiking friends! If you have any specific questions, feel free to add to the comments below or DM me on Instagram @kb.hikes

I decided to try something new and create my very first product review video on YouTube! It's a little rough for my first go-round - next time I think I'll use a script. If you want to watch me awkwardly talk about this jacket for about 6 minutes, click play below!
